Book Borrowers: How to read on a budget (VLOG!)

Book Borrowers: How to read on a budget
Episode 1 - Libraries

My very first vlog. Not as painful as I thought it would be.
I did, however, forget to mention that some libraries also cater to ereaders. Be sure to ask your local librarian, or check it out online.

Books read this week:
Reached by Ally Condie - source: library  cost: $0
Baby by J.K. Accinni - source: author promotion  cost: $0
Frostbite by Richelle Mead - source: library  cost: $0
The Awakening of Leeowyn Blake by Mary Parker - source: review request  cost: $0

  1. Confession time: I don't even have a library card. Our library caters to older readers so the the YA selection is not that great. Although with the influx of the popularity of some YA books they might have improved it. We do have an ereader lending program, and this great little book nook where you can buy outgoing books for cents in our library.
Most of those book haul videos are trades with other bloggers, and ARC hauls, where they receive unsolicited and requested ARC's from the publishers.

    1. I know a lot of the book hauls are ARCs etc, and I know the bloggers work damn hard to deserve them. I certainly didn't mean to take away any of the credit they so richly deserve. I meant more the books mentioned that are sometimes purchased, because there are usually a few.
Lori, have you ever tried to request books from the library? There are probably more than a few people who are wondering where the good books are. Maybe they just need a little YA education.

    2. No I didn't mean to imply that you were knocking them at all. Damn flu stupor struck me again. I was just saying that I've seen a lot bloggers do ARC swaps on goodreads, and the in my mail box meme where they get cool books from publishers. And yes they do work hard for those! Sure, I could talk to my library about doing that. But I'm kind of a book hoarder.....and librarians frown at you when you don't return books.

    3. I have a naturally guilty conscience, so not returning a library book goes against my very nature. There was one occasion where I kept a book a day late on purpose in order to finish it, and it nearly made me cry! lol
I have this image in my head now, of you trying to convince your friends and family to take out books on their cards, because the price of using yours was too high. ;)
